THE GATEWAY TO LAMAR PROJECT -

The Building and Grounds committee met on Friday, February 27th to finalize plans for the new Gateway to Lamar, to be located at the Westheimer entrance to the campus and parking lots.  The project began on Tuesday, March 3, 2009!  This is the first phase of a larger project which came out of the Master Plan.  Later phases will add a similar sign and landscaping at the Westheimer/Eastside corner of the campus, and eventually replace the chain-link fence around the campus with handsome metal fencing and brick pillars.  The contractor anticipates minimal disruption to traffic and parking during the several weeks of construction.

Funding for the project is coming from donations from parents, alumni, foundations and friends of the school.  The PTO is continuing to solicit donations - please see the attached donation form and sketches if you would like to contribute to this wonderful project. Click here: LHS Gateway

Thank You River Oaks Garden Club!  The River Oaks Garden Club rewarded Lamar's Building and Grounds an $8,000 grant to be used for landscaping and the necessary irrigation around the new Gateway entrance.  Lamar's horticulture students will be involved in the design, planting and maintaining of this landscaping.  With the $2500 contributed to the Master Plan about two years ago, the garden club has contributed $10,500 to Lamar!  If you know an ROGC member, please pass along our thanks for their generosity.
